An important part of Holy Family and St. Emery mission in the community is to reach out to those in need. The Church undertakes several projects of charitable works throughout the year. The Church also reaches out to the community to support fund drives to meet the needs of Holy Family and St. Emery Parish as well as those of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

St. Emery is sponsoring their 2019 Thanksgiving Food Drive from November 3 – 17.
Donations can be either in the form of money or food items. A suggested list of food items is shown in the flyer. Donations will go to Blessed Sacrament Church in Bridgeport. Please make checks are payable to “Church of Saint Emery” with reference to Blessed Sacrament Church.
Collection bins will be located in the vestibule of the Church.

St. Emery’s Winter Clothing Drive
September 22 – October 20, 2019
St. Emery’s annual warm winter clothing drive for 2019 is underway.
The collection will be for the Thomas Merton Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut
As described in the flyer, warm winter coats, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, cap and gloves are suggested donation items. Bins are located in the vestibule of the Church.
The Thomas Merton is a wonderful community program of Catholic Charities committed to responding to the needs of its guests and residents while respecting the dignity of every person. We welcome your kind participation to again make this annual drive a success

ANNUAL CHARITY PROJECTS AND FUND DRIVES
A number of charitable activities occur throughout the year at St. Emery’s during Lent and Easter, Summer, Thanksgiving, Christmas and special drives to collect school supplies for local Catholic schools.
Annual fund drives include the Diocese of Bridgeport’s ‘Beacon of Hope’ fund drive and St. Emery’s Stewardship fund raiser, which supports the needs of the parish.
LENTEN AND EASTER SEASON
Lenten Food Drive
St. Emery’s sponsors a food drive during the season of Lent. All food items are donated to our sister churches or other worthy charitable organizations prior to Easter.
Loaves and Fishes
The annual Lenten campaign to feed the needy. The Diocesan Loaves and Fishes drive begins on Ash Wednesday and is concluded at the end of Lent. Contributions are made using Loaves and Fishes envelopes. Donations are payable to: Catholic Charities. All donations go to local Bridgeport Diocese charities.
SUMMER SEASON
Summer Food/Toiletry Drive
St. Emery’s annual Summer Food/Toiletry Drive serves the St. Stephen’s Food Pantry, the recent Thomas Merton Marion House and the Operation Hope Food Pantry.
‘Dress-for-Success’ Clothing Drive
Dress-for-Success is a wonderful drive that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Dress-for-Success Mid-Fairfield County and The Community Closet collects donations of gently used clothing and household essentials for needy people striving for self-sufficiency.

This statue of Christ is located in the rear of the Church. This is one of the sculpture pieces created for the Church in 1932 and refurbished in 2000.
It shows Jesus offering a sign of peace.
Below is the statue of Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, holding the child Virgin Mary. This statue is also located in the rear of the Church. The Saint Anne statue is also one of the art pieces from 1932 which was refurbished in 2000.

This striking stained glass window is also located in the rear of the Church above the Choir loft. It was installed in 1932 when the Church was built. It can be seen from the outside front of the Church above the main entrance doors.
The sections of the window show the symbols for each of the 12 Apostles. From top-center is Saint Peter carrying two keys. Going clock-wise from St. Peter, John, Andrew, Philip, James, Simon, Matthew, Bartholomew, James the Less, Judas, Jude, and Thomas.
